This is Gelis, a mode of transportation like Bajaj on Penyengat Island

On Penyengat Island , Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands (Kepri) there is a unique mode of transportation that tourists can use.

It is a Gelis or Electric Cart which has been operating since November 2023.

The existence of Gelis adds to the modes of transportation operating on the island. Previously, there were motorbike rickshaws which could be used as mainstay transportation.

Currently, bentor can still be seen being used by tourists at a number of destinations on Penyengat Island .

Tourists no longer need to be confused about transportation while on holiday enjoying nature on Penyengat Island .

Gelis itself has a different shape from Bentor.

Using a tricycle, the driver driving Gelis is positioned at the front. Passengers in the back.

If you do it yourself, you can use a two-wheeled trishaw which is assisted by a two-wheeled motorized vehicle. The driver’s position is right next to the rickshaw.

colors Gelis’ also attract visitors. namely green and yellow, plus Malay ornaments on the back.

Separating drivers and passengers, a map of Penyengat Island is attached.

When you look at it, Gelis’ shape resembles a Bajai vehicle. Only Gelis is approximately 2 meters long and is not noisy.

That’s because the Gelis machine uses pure electricity. Not fuel oil like vehicles in general.

driver Gelis , Bambang Sumardi (40) said, to charge electricity, you can do it at home or at the electrical panel to the right of the Penyengat Island Mosque .

It takes a long time to charge the electricity, approximately 8 hours if it runs out completely. Gelis can also take visitors for the whole day.
