Riau Islands Tourism Department Develops Small Island into World Class Tourism

The Riau Islands Provincial Tourism Office is committed to developing the small islands in the Riau Islands to become world-class tourist areas.

Acting Head of the Riau Islands Tourism Service (Dispar) Luki Zaiman Prawira said that currently tourism on the island is a favorite of foreign and local tourists.

This great enthusiasm is a new opportunity for Riau Islands to increase tourist visits.

“These islands are a tourist favorite. “So some of our islands have been developed into tourism areas,” he said, Wednesday 1 November 2023.

To make this happen, his party is opening up the widest possible opportunities for investors to carry out development.

“But we still involve the local community,” he said.

He explained that the small islands that have been developed into tourism areas in the Riau Islands are Nikoi Island Bintan, Cempedak Island Bintan, Joyo Island Bintan, Nirup Island Batam and others.

Most recently, Katang Island, located in Katang Bidare District, Lingga Regency, was previously an empty island. This island will also be transformed into a world-class tourist area.

“There will be many more new ones in Lingga. If there are investors who want to develop, we certainly welcome it. “The more destinations that are built, it will raise investor confidence to build in our region,” he said.

He explained that the natural panorama of Katang Island has its own attraction for tourists. He hopes that in the future this tourist location can boost tourism and the economy of the surrounding community, especially for Benan and Katang Bidare.
