Measuring Batam for Culinary Business
Batam is an industrial area and urban community that is also multi-ethnic. The proximity to Singapore and Malaysia also influences the lifestyle of the people. This condition is a consideration for Indonesian culinary business players.
Grerard Smit, CEO of Ismaya Group, said that Batam’s lifestyle is very different from other cities, including Jakarta, when they gather. This became a challenge when deciding to open a Pizza E Birra outlet in Batam.
“Batam and Jakarta are different. Batam is unique. There are cultural differences in Batam and Jakarta,” said Smit at the opening of the first Pizza e Birra outlet on the Grand Floor of Grand Mall, Nagoya Batam.
According to Smit, in Batam the people who hang out are workers, expatriates and various communities. Based on this, the entire menu at the Ismaya Group pizza branch is presented with the hope that it will be accepted by all segments.
“The comfort we will provide is based on the customer’s character. In Bali there are Indonesian stand-ups, in Batam we will get to know the character first,” said Smit
Ismaya group is committed to recruiting local workers as a form of concern for reducing unemployment.
It was explained that Pizza E Birra is present in 8 cities. In Batam, it is projected to open 2-3 other Ismaya product outlets. Cities that have been on the radar include Makasar, Bali, Manado, Semarang, Pekanbaru and Jogja.
Gerard explained that Pizza e Birra, which is located at Grand Batam Mall, carries the concept of The Ultimate Sports Bar. The interior has an industrial concept combining various Italian and American touches.
“Pizza e Birra is not only a place to eat with colleagues, friends and family, but also a place to gather while enjoying live sports broadcasts,” he said.
Pizza e Birra also serves a variety of other menus, such as spaghetti, fettuccine, penne and lasagna. This restaurant also serves a variety of other Italian dishes, such as risotto, gnocchi and calamari.
Meanwhile, Ismaya Group marketing representative Donna Wilhelmina explained that this is the first Pizza e Birra outlet in Batam
“We are consistent and committed to restaurant concepts, nightclubs and entertainment events that are innovative and popular among the community,” he said.
