Kaca Puri
Kaca Puri Sports Arena (GOR), which is located on Jalan Teuku Umar, is now a historical memory for the people of Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands (Kepri).
Built in 1983 by the former Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), Soepardjo Roestam, this GOR was once a place of pride for the residents of this city.
But unfortunately, currently the Kaca Puri GOR is just a ruin that can no longer be used. At this time, the condition is very worrying and makes local residents feel sad.
During its heyday, this GOR hosted various large activities and events such as Volleyball tournaments, Music Festivals, Cultural Performances, Arts, and even political activities.
However, a protracted dispute between the private sector and the Bintan Regency Government has caused this GOR to be abandoned and can no longer be used.
Traders who sell around the GOR can only hope that the GOR will soon be put back into operation and renovated in order to increase visitor interest and revive the economy of the traders.
Currently, Tanjungpinang residents can only remember the glory days of the GOR through photos and bitter memories that the place that was once a witness to various achievements and excitement is now just an abandoned building.
Apart from that, Kaca Puri GOR also has significant historical value for Tanjungpinang. As a historical building, this GOR can become an attractive historical tourist attraction for local and foreign tourists if it is properly renovated.
