This special coffee can only be found in one shop in Batam City, specifically in Nagoya, Jalan Complex Bumi Indah. Here, visitors can watch the coffee blending process and choose their favorite coffee beans. This is an engaging experience for buyers.
Tanker Coffee has been produced in Tanjungpinang for more than half a century, starting around the 1970s. With its unique taste and strong identity, Kopi Kapal Tanker has become a culinary icon in the Riau Islands.
There is only one shop in Batam City that sells Tanker Coffee ground coffee, and here you can find various types of Tanker Coffee.
Andi, one of the shopkeepers, explained that they also provide coffee beans, both whole and ground.
“This coffee is sold for 60 thousand rupiah per kilogram, while the one packaged in sachets is available for $1.56 SGD,” he said.
A courier, Hadi, who often delivers Tanker coffee packages, explained that people in Batam often shop at this shop to take as souvenirs.
“People who return home almost always bring this coffee.”
When asked what makes Tanker Coffee so popular in the Riau Islands, he explained that each coffee has its own characteristics, depending on individual tastes.
“When someone tastes this coffee, they definitely have their own judgment, and that’s why they don’t want to look for other coffees and will come back here.”
He also confirmed that there is only one shop in Batam City that sells this Tanker Coffee.
“If the shop is here, the center is in Tunas 1, that’s where the wholesalers send out.”
