What is Nirup Island?
A new tourist destination is back in Batam , namely Nirup Island which is located in Behindpadang District, Batam.
This island, which is only 8 nautical miles from Singapore area , is developing an integrated tourist consisting of hotels, water villas and other tourist facilities.
The inauguration of the Special Tourism Terminal on Nirup Island was carried out by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi. According to him, the island’s tourist area is on an international scale.
He hopes that the area can continue to be developed to increase tourism in the Riau Islands (Kepri).
The geographical location of the Riau Islands which is close to Singapore and other neighboring countries has great potential. Budi requested that licensing regulations regarding tourism be made easier.
Travelers from Singapore will soon have a new vacation option — one that doesn’t require a flight.

“This tourist location is very good. Support it with extensive promotions and prepare easy regulations.
Make this a means that can bring a good name to the Riau Islands and Indonesia,” said Budi Karya after inspecting the Special Tourism Terminal on Nirup Island, which is managed by PT Tritunas Sinar Benua and One 15 Marina.
The Nirup Island tourist area stands on an area of 47,100 square meters. This island features luxury tourism for foreign tourists and also accessible recreational areas for local tourists.
“I hope that Nirup Island can have a domino effect on the economic growth and development of the community in Rearpadang District,” said BUdi Karya.
This tourist destination is also expected to be able to absorb labor from local residents, which will also coincide with revitalizing tourism on Behindpadang Island, such as culinary tourism, cultural tourism and historical tourism.
“Therefore, access to Nirup Island and Behindpadang is also well prepared, where today a special tourism terminal was also inaugurated on this island,” he said. Nirup Island is only 13 km from Sentosa Beach in Singapore.
